The opposite of an anti-meme, MAMA is meant to be shared widely and go viral to overtake what it is openly replicating: its evil twin MAGA.

Speaking to the common search for meaning, MAMA, an acronym for 'Make All Meaningful Again', seeks to demonstrate that objects, and what they represent, can be transgressed through the technique of détournement. In the vein of what Walter Benjamin calls the aestheticisation of politics, MAMA seeks to actively subvert the symbolism deployed by fascistic ideologues, and is a mirroring back of the Far-right to offer an alternative that can aid a counterhegemonic bloc. It’s an attempt at putting ‘progressive populism’, a term coined by philosopher, critical theorist and feminist Nancy Fraser, into artistic practice.
